Marie Hazard & Constança Entrudo
Ad Hoc is an ongoing collaboration between French artist Marie Hazard and Portuguese designer Constança Entrudo, initiated in 2024. Having met while studying Textile Design at Central Saint Martins, London, their decade-long friendship and creative dialogue have shaped the foundation of a shared practice at the intersection of art, fashion and textiles.
Bringing together two distinct yet interconnected approaches to textile-making, Ad Hoc explores weaving as both a material process and a language. Through the interplay of handcraft, industrial processes and digital technologies, the project investigates notions of time, labour, authorship and the evolving relationship between craft and technology. Rather than merging their individual practices, Hazard and Entrudo develop a shared territory in which the boundaries between artist and designer, artwork and garment, object and performance remain fluid. Ad Hoc exists as an independent artistic entity, beyond the authorship of either individual.
The collaboration draws on weaving traditions, experimental textile processes and the possibilities of collective production. Its forms extend beyond the textile object to encompass installations, garments, performances and participatory situations. Each project takes shape through a specific context, bringing together material research, spatial exploration and collaborative gestures.
In 2026, Ad Hoc was awarded the International Artistic Diffusion Programme (PIDA) prize by the Institut français, recognising the international development of the project. The collaboration made its Lisbon debut at MUDE – Museum of Design, before presenting WARP, a participatory performance commissioned by CHERUBY, at Lafayette Anticipations, Paris. Ad Hoc has also developed its work through a presentation at Studio2M, New York. Developed in dialogue with CHERUBY, WARP draws inspiration from the tradition of woven sample books, transforming the performance space into a living textile collectively shaped through the movements and participation of its audience.
Ad Hoc continues to develop an international programme of research, exhibitions and performances, building new connections between contemporary art, fashion and textile culture.
